Solar Arrays in Gill, Colorado
The sun shines 300 days a year in Colorado, and Aurora Organic Dairy’s farms in Gill, Colorado aren’t letting that precious solar energy go to waste.
The company recently commissioned Namaste Solar of Boulder, CO to install nearly 2,000 solar panels at its High Plains and High Ridge Dairy farms.
The solar panel system returns renewable electricity to the grid, and the amount generated is equivalent to nearly 100% of the electricity used at High Ridge and approximately 40% at High Plains.
The solar panels are expected to save the equivalent of 700 metric tons of carbon emissions annually. This is equivalent to 1.7 million car miles driven, or more than 18,000 trees planted and grown over 10 years.
